The Cypress Creek Community Chorale's next adventure is to Eastern Germany during Thanksgiving week of 2020.


Prices based on a minimum of 40 paying travelers:

Tour Itinerary

Day 1- Saturday, November 21, 2020 - IAH to TXL (Berlin-Tegel) or LEJ (Leipzig-Halle)

Depart from Houston to Berlin, most likely on an afternoon flight.

Day 2 - Sunday, November 22, 2020

Morning arrival in Berlin and travel by motorcoach to Leipzig, about a 2 hour ride.  Visit St. Thomas church, Leipzig (Thomaskirche) and enjoy a walking tour of Leipzig.  Check in to the hotel, which will be our home base for the duration of the week.  A welcome dinner will be arranged to celebrate your arrival in Leipzig.

Day 3 - Monday, November 23, 2020 - Wittenburg

Depart for Wittenburg for a walking tour of "Luther-City," home of the protestant reformation in 1517.  Perform a short performance in the city and visit the Luther House Museum.  Afterward, return to Leipzig for an evening of either walking the old city or attending a concert at the Gewandhaus, home to famous conductors such as Kurt Mazur and Gustav Mahler to hear their world-class orchestra.

Day 4 - Tuesday, November 24, 2020 - Weimar

Depart for a day trip to Weimar for a tour of the city, home to poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, pianist/composer Franz Liszt, philosopher Firedrich Nietsche, and artists Paul Klee and Vasili Kandisnski.  After lunch visit the Buchenwald Memorial, one of the largest concentration camps both during World War II and used again in the Soviet Occupation of Eastern Germany.  Return to Leipzig and enjoy the evening.

Day 5 - Wednesday, November 25, 2020 - Leipzig

After a leisurely breakfast, prepare for a noonday concert at St. Thomas of Leipzig, the final resting place and home of composer Johann Sebastian Bach.  After the performance, attend the Leipzig Stategeschichtliches Musem to learn of Leipzig's place in post-WWII history and the reunification of Germany.  Meet with a local choir and perform a friendship concert, including a combined work.

Day 6 - Thursday, November 26, 2020 - Thanksgiving Day

Depart for Dresden to visit the Frauenkirche, destroyed in a fire-bombing raid during World War II and rebuilt from the original pieces.  Afterward, visit the Dresden Palace, home of the Old Masters Picture Gallery, Dresden Porcelain Collection, and Cabinet of Mathematical and Physical Instruments.  Return to Leipzig and gather for a Thanksgiving Celebration Dinner.

Day 7 - Friday, Nobember 27 - Halle

Depart for the short ride over to Halle, birthplace of George Friedrich Handel.  Visit the Handel House, the Market Square, Red Tower and the Market Church of St. Mary.  Return to Leipzig to pack and enjoy a farewell dinner to say "goodbye to Bach"

Day 8 - Saturday, November 28 - return to IAH

Transfer from the hotel in Leipzig to either Berlin or Leipzig-Halle airport for the flight back to Houston.
